Alliance College-Ready Public Schools is the largest nonprofit charter school organization in Los Angeles, serving nearly 13,000 low-income scholars across 25 free public middle and high schools on 28 campuses. Alliance has a proven record of success: though our scholars come to Alliance on average four grade-levels behind in reading, 95% of Alliance graduates have been accepted to college—including 77% to a four-year university in 2017. Alliance is seeking exceptional instructional and people leaders to guide its schools into the next chapter of even greater academic excellence. We expect our Alliance school leaders to possess a deep knowledge of great teaching and learning, and to have demonstrated success in engaging and inspiring a school community to high levels of scholar achievement. We seek self-reflective leaders who understand how race, class, ethnicity, income, disability, and other aspects of difference are integral to our scholars’ academic and social development, and who have experience with communities like Alliance’s. Alliance’s Assistant Principals (APs) must be deeply committed to our scholar population and ensuring that our scholars are prepared for success in college and beyond. APs have the opportunity to build engaged, rewarding work environments that retain the most talented educators committed to college and career success for all scholars. Alliance APs also receive substantial professional development to continue to hone their craft, including monthly full-day professional development sessions and other differentiated supports.
Lead teachers and teacher leaders in dramatically improving scholar outcomes through the implementation of a rigorous data-driven instructional cycle, high-quality professional development, aligned to identified gaps, and ongoing observation and feedback.
Coach, manage, evaluate, support, and inspire a set of teachers and staff via observations with feedback that accurately captures strength and growth areas and supports measurable progress.
Set high standards for achievement so that students are on track to be college-ready.
Ensure that school-wide curriculum, assessments, differentiated instruction, and more detailed instructional strategies are aligned to the Common Core State Standards.
Vision and Cultural Leadership
Project and encourage a positive, cooperative atmosphere within the school.
Oversee systems and supports that ensure a positive school climate in which students can develop a love for learning and a sense of responsibility, self-worth, and good citizenship.
Build and maintain strong relationships with families, students, and colleagues at the school site and the Alliance Home Office.
Build a productive, positive staff culture in which staff members grow, learn, collaborate, thrive, and feel supported in achieving high expectations.
Lead non-instructional school functions that vary by school site, but potentially include: testing coordination, compliance reporting, student activities/enrollment, etc.

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
Valid California teaching credential
Some Alliance schools require an administrative services credential authorizing service as a principal or the ability to obtain this credential in California
At least two (2) years of school leadership experience in communities similar to Alliance’s
