Position: The College of Health Professions invites applications for a non-tenure-track, 10-month Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor position in the Physical Education/Teacher Education Program in the Department of Kinesiology beginning August 2020.
Master’s degree in Physical Education/Teacher Education or related area, have a minimum of 3 years teaching K-12 physical education, demonstrated competence in teaching, expertise to teach courses in physical education, health education and/or kinesiology related courses in health, wellness and fitness. Preference will be given to candidates with doctoral degrees, an established record of excellence in teaching in higher education, experience with internship supervision, accreditation and/or interdisciplinary teaching, and demonstrated success in working with diverse populations and students. Candidates wishing to be considered for the rank of associate clinical professor must have extensive successful experience in the Physical Education/Teacher Education discipline which includes, but is not limited to, experience supervising students in the K-12 school system, superior teaching ability, and administrative accomplishments.
Physical Education/Teacher Education faculty provide high quality instruction in the classroom and learning experiences and supervision for student interns in K-12 schools. To support the program, this position will assist with internship coordination, program administration tasks, curricular activities, student recruitment, and student advising, as well as provide service to the department, college, university, profession and/or community.
The Department of Kinesiology, located within the College of Health Professions, has 35 full-time faculty and more than 1,400 students across the Physical Education/Teacher Education, Athletic Training, Sport Management, and Exercise Science undergraduate programs. The Physical Education/Teacher Education has approximately 120 majors. The Department is also responsible for oversight of the College of Health Professions Institute for Well-Being’s Wellness Center that serves over 300 members each year with its programs that support student education and community outreach. In addition, the Department has a strong, positive relationship with the University’s Division of Athletics.
