The Norwell, Massachusetts Public Schools is seeking dynamic and visionary educational leader to serve as its High School Principal. Norwell is a picturesque community of approximately 11,000 residents located in Plymouth County approximately 20 miles south of Boston. Norwell is proud and supportive of its school system, which reflects the intellectual strength and character of the community. All of the district’s schools have been transformed into 21st Century learning centers. Each school has an active school council, and parents are extraordinarily involved with the education of their children.
Norwell Public Schools is a high performing district of approximately 2,200 students. The district comprises the following schools: Grace Farrar Cole Elementary School (490 students; Grades PreK-5), William Vinal Elementary School (534 students; Grades PreK-5), Norwell Middle School (512 students; Grades 6-8), and Norwell High School (674 students; Grades 9-12). High school students also have the option of attending the South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High School in neighboring Hanover. In May of 2012, a $2.3 million operational override allowed Norwell Public Schools to improve student to teacher ratios, begin a comprehensive curriculum adoption cycle and a technology cycle for overall infrastructure needs and a 1:1 iPad initiative for students in grades 3-12. The Clipper Community Complex, featuring a stadium turf field and all-purpose athletic turf field, was completed in the summer of 2014 thanks to the support of many Norwell committees, community members, and donors. Norwell High School is a state-of-the-art facility with a high performing and engaged student body, a talented and nurturing faculty, and a rigorous and challenging program of studies, located in a community that values and supports public education. Providing a college preparatory curriculum for all students, NHS is an academically rigorous secondary school accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
The Principal of Norwell High School, with the support of the administrative team, will be the educational administrator and manager of his/her school. He/She will provide high-quality leadership and administration; promote challenging and enriching academic and co-curricular experiences; and foster Norwell High School’s core values of Integrity, Learning, Respect, and Responsibility for its students, teachers, specialists, and support staff. The Principal will supervise the operation and management of the school and school property, subject to the supervision and direction of the Superintendent. Candidates must have the following qualifications pertaining to administrative and instructional leadership, student management, and community relationships: 1. Certification as a high school principal in Massachusetts; 2. Minimum of five years teaching experience; 3. Demonstrated leadership in staff and curriculum development; 4. Minimum of a master’s degree with specialization in educational administration or curriculum and supervision; 5. Administrative and/or supervisory experience; and 6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent or School Committee may find appropriate and acceptable.

The district is prepared to offer a multi-year contract with a generous salary range and benefits package. A starting salary range of $120,000 to $145,000 has been established for this key leadership position. Preliminary screening will begin February 17, 2020 so it is strongly recommended that all application materials be submitted no later than Friday, February 14, 2020. The application process, however, will remain open until the position is filled. The starting date is on or about July 1, 2020.
