The school seeks to appoint an experienced teacher in support of a strong and well-established science department. The successful candidate will value and seek out opportunities to collaborate with colleagues, bring a creative, innovative interest in curriculum design and experimentation, and enjoy working with adolescents and supporting them in acquiring and achieving a high level of interest and mastery in science. The new CA Labs building completed in 2016 offers additional opportunities to rethink current practices and experiment with innovative teaching.
We are in search of a science teacher with the capacity and interest to teach biology at both the introductory and advanced levels, grades 9-12, and the disciplinary expertise to develop rigorous and compelling semester electives. The position likely will include teaching introductory chemistry.
Familiarity with inquiry-based methods is important, as is an affinity towards the application of subject matter to real world problems. Applicants should have significant coursework in a relevant subject.
The school provides a competitive benefits package and salary is commensurate with experience. All faculty members at Concord Academy participate fully in the life of the school; responsibilities include advising, serving on committees and/or clubs, and periodically providing an adult presence at school events. Coaching an athletic team is welcomed but not required and is remunerated separately. On-campus housing may be available, but it is limited, and faculty members are not required to live at the school.
