In our Middle School, you’ll work with colleagues and students who infuse challenge with joy. All eighty-six Middle School faculty are part of Professional Learning Communities that meet in teams four times per week to design lessons, create assessments, work through challenges.... Supervisor: Head of the Middle School
Position Status: This position is a salaried, exempt, full-time, regular, 10-month position.
Strong academic background in Middle School physical science including physics and chemistry. Two or more years of Middle School teaching experience, a Master’s degree, and a background in interdisciplinary curriculum or integrated studies preferred but not required
Deep familiarity with the developmental and learning needs of Middle School children
Proficiency with a range of technologies and the ability to use them to enhance teaching and learning
The desire to continue learning by reading and implementing ideas from professional journals, attending workshops and conferences, taking courses, and collaborating with colleagues
Duties & Responsibilities:
Teach four sections of Middle School physical science
Work directly with other Middle School teachers as part of a Professional Learning Community
Serve as a Middle School faculty member and an advisor to students
Contribute to the larger school community through coaching or sponsoring other extracurricular programs
Fulfill supervisory duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
