In the Lower School, the Preschool and Extended Day Teacher supports as a co-teacher in planning and implementing the preschool curriculum in the afternoon program and is a member of the Extended Day faculty. This position reports to the Co-Head of Lower School. This role is a great opportunity for an early childhood educator with vision, energy, and creativity. The Preschool and Extended Day Teacher is a full-time teaching position that is contracted from 11:00-6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

This exciting opportunity will require a faculty member who can work collaboratively with fellow teachers and administrators, while also possessing the confidence and knowledge to be a curricular leader. Preference will be given to candidates with a 90-hour early childhood certification or a degree in education with an emphasis on early childhood education and/or special education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Co-teacher in preschool classroom in afternoon program from 11:00-2:00 pm
Assist in the preparation of weekly lesson plans and materials
Implement course objectives, outlines, and lesson plans for the appropriate course of study, following curriculum guideline and school requirements;
Maintain discipline and a suitable learning environment based on the principles of Responsive Classroom in the classroom and on the playground
Communicate effectively both verbally and electronically with parents regarding their child’s social, emotional, and academic progress
Assist in the preparation of communications with parents (including bulletin boards, reports, newsletters, and fliers)
Assist with snack/lunch, recess duties, and bathroom procedures
Support carpool, report-writing, and parent conferences
Support the Episcopal identity of the Institution
Extended Day Duties
Prepare lesson weekly plans with Extended Day Coordinator for Extended Day program and order needed materials for each day/week
Plan a curriculum that develops on the themes, concepts, and expectations of the day school program
Lead activities that give children opportunities to learn and play
Collaborate constructively with colleagues
Welcome, guide, and check-in students as they transition to Extended Day at 2:45 and 3:45 pm
Supervise Extended Day and faculty children during faculty events (baby showers, Christmas happy hour and party, retirement parties, and/or other faculty social events or meetings) before 6:00 pm
Supervise faculty children during the end-of-year meetings for one week
Follow established operating procedures at all times.
