St. Mary's School is seeking an experienced dance teacher for the 2020-21 school year to inspire a love of dance through a variety of dance styles and techniques to students from Jr. Kindergarten through Grade 8.
Develop and implement a comprehensive dance program that includes dance instruction and periodic performances.
Collaborate with grade-level and exploratory teachers to determine, develop and implement meaningful lessons that fulfill the requirements of the school’s curricular program.
Develop creative lesson plans that are aligned with student learning objectives.
Prepare and teach differentiated instructional techniques to meet the diverse needs of student abilities and interests.
Create a safe classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate for the intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth of students.
Create a positive classroom environment and manage student behavior in a calm, consistent, proactive manner, in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
Maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with all colleagues, students, parents and members of the school community.
Attend weekly department and division meetings.
Support the School and its leadership.
Other duties as required by the Head of School and Division Heads.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university required.
Minimum of 2-years of experience in school-age dance instruction, preferably in a K-12 school environment.
Proven knowledge of a variety of dance styles and techniques.
Outstanding interpersonal skills with a strong customer service focus, both internal and external.
Strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders of the school.
Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS office suite.
Able to stand and move for extended periods of time.
High energy, self-starter with the ability to successfully prioritize and multi-task in an atmosphere in which sensitive deadlines are the norm, as are interruptions.
