Selection Criteria for Prospective Associate Teachers
Committed to child-centered educational teaching practices
Experienced in working with children in a classroom setting
Embraces implementing a multicultural classroom and a social-emotional curriculum
Committed to inclusion and issues of social justice and equity
Able to be self-directed and take initiative
Provide whole, small group, and individual instruction
Implement teaching strategies used and modeled by the lead teacher
Prepare interest centers, including needed materials and supplies and support inquiry project based learning
Supervise the classroom
Help maintain a clean and organized learning environment
Attend recommended training programs and conferences
Supervise outside playground activities
Help with the operation of audio/visual aids (projectors, etc.)
Follow directions given by the lead teacher or immediate supervisor
Participate in the school community events
Perform other related duties assigned by the Lower School Head and classroom Teacher
High school degree (Bachelors or Masters degree preferred)
Interest in working with children in an educational setting
Good verbal skills with students, colleagues, and parents
Demonstrated organizational skills
Able to use basic office equipment
Proficient with instructional technology and web-based tools in the classroom
