Sugar Bowl Academy, an independent day and boarding school for competitive Freeride, Nordic, and Alpine skiers in grades 8-12 in the Lake Tahoe area, seeks a humanities teacher with the training and expertise to teach history and English classes to student-athletes of all ages.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Demonstrate deep content knowledge in the humanities and understanding across grade levels and content strands;
Adjust learning plans to accommodate and support learning on the road;
Present curriculum that balances content mastery and conceptual understanding;
Develop creative formative and summative assessments and experiences to evaluate student learning;
Create and scaffold rigorous, higher-level thinking tasks that emphasize critical thinking;
Provide opportunities for student self-assessment and engagement in the learning process;
Exhibit a passion to teach and learn from young people and colleagues.
A B.A. in English, history, or a related field required.
Proficiency with the Google Suite of products required.
A Master’s degree and 3 or more years of teaching experience preferred.

Must be able to live and work in a high altitude, mountain environment with frequent, heavy storms disrupting day-to-day operations--and have the sense of humor, creativity, and flexibility to be effective in that environment.
