Responsibilities for Math Curricular Lead:
Provide leadership and oversight of the pre-kindergarten to twelfth grade math program; Work collaboratively with the Director of Teaching in Learning and Division Directors in enhancing the PK-12 math program
Collaborate with the two divisional mathematics curriculum team leaders to implement a common department vision and approach
Provide instructional coaching to members of the math department
Serve on Curriculum Council
Responsibilities for Upper School Math faculty:
Teach four sections of upper school mathematics utilizing research-based best practices in mathematics education up to and including pre-calculus
Plan and implement effective standards-based lessons and units
Use a variety of assessments to measure student learning and drive instruction
Create a positive and safe classroom culture and community utilizing best practices in social emotional learning and culturally responsive teaching.
Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff members
Skills and Dispositions
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in mathematics education including project-based learning, equitable grading practices, and culturally responsive teaching
Demonstrated ability to be resilient, mission-driven, and proactive in creating and implementing an innovative and research-based mathematics curriculum
Demonstrated ability to manage a team and lead colleagues through curricular planning, revision, and implementation
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with important stakeholders including teachers, administrators, and families
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mathematics, Education
Proficiency in technology, including both iPads and Microsoft products
Educational philosophy which aligns with the mission and vision of ICS
State and Federal background clearance
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to collaborate and maintain a positive relationship with others
Reflective practitioner in a state of constant professional growth
