St. Anne's-Belfield School seeks a full-time Humanities teacher to join a highly collaborative department. In Grade 9, English and ancient world history are taught separately but designed collaboratively. In Grades 10 and 11, modern world history and American studies classes are co-taught in a dual-credit, double period class. As an institution, St. Anne's-Belfield encourages risk-taking and creativity, creates and sustains a culture of pleasure reading, and integrates empathy, awareness and respect for differences in every classroom and course in explicit ways. A successful teacher in this position has the capacity to foster in students an enthusiasm for the exploration of ideas and concepts in a student-centered classroom. This role relies on someone who embraces lifelong learning and collaborates effectively with fellow teachers, members of the Humanities department and the upper school faculty as a whole. St. Anne's-Belfield also affirms the enduring value of the teacher-advisor-coach philosophy. Experience teaching upper school-aged students and a masters degree in English, history or secondary education is preferred.
