The Madeira School is one of the country's premier boarding/day schools for girls with a century of serving the needs of a wide variety of young women from around the country and the world. Located just outside of Washington, DC, on the banks of the Potomac River, in McLean, VA, Madeira enrolls 320 students in grades 9-12.
The Madeira School is seeking a Director of Annual Giving and Parent Programs. The successful candidate will lead and direct Madeira’s annual giving program, parent engagement and development operations.
Manage all aspects of the annual giving program
Develop and implement reunion giving strategies
Lead and motivate annual giving volunteers to include reunion giving volunteers and class agents
Develop, plan, and execute direct mail campaign, e-solicitations, social crowd fundraising and phonathons
Develop and execute annual giving stewardship to include recognition to first time donors, consecutive donors and leadership donors
Create, plan and execute stewardship events for leadership gift clubs
Design appropriate and personal acknowledgements to send to annual giving donors
Develop and implement prospect management for all annual giving donors
Manage portfolio of annual fund leadership donors with personal outreach and appropriate follow up
Analyze programs and produce regular reports on fundraising progress for Board and school leadership
Supervise and evaluate direct reports; work with staff members to create program strategies
Oversee program budgets
Serve as liaisons with brokerage company for all stock gifts
Oversee management of development database; assure data integrity through establishing operating procedures
Oversee gift processing, gift acknowledgement and pledge reminder process, assuring accuracy
Partner with communications in the production of the Annual Report
Bachelor’s degree required
Five years fundraising experience preferred; experience securing annual fund gifts, and/or a combination of education and experience; previous experience in a school or university development operation preferred
Previous experience with fundraising software; Blackbaud’s Raisers Edge preferred; proficiency in basic data management systems and computer applications; willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to be diplomatic and demonstrate mature judgement; personable and outgoing
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with exceptional initiative
Excellent organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize work; attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow through
Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
Ability to be a practitioner of diversity, equity and inclusion
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretion
Willingness and ability to travel and to work flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends
