Greens Farms Academy seeks an Upper School English teacher to begin in August 2020. Coursework will likely focus on English 9 (a genre-based course called "Many Forms, Many Voices") or English 10 ("World Literature"). There are also exciting opportunities to mentor students in their junior or senior years on small-group or individual inquiry projects in areas of passion. The teacher will join a thriving and experienced 5th-12th grade department of 11 faculty members committed to discussion-based classes, textual analysis, a process approach to writing, and support for students as they publish and perform their work. GFA faculty are typically involved outside the classroom in a variety of ways, including advising, chaperoning trips and events, leading extracurricular clubs, and/or coaching. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of teaching experience, an advanced degree in English or a related field, a student-centered approach, deep and diverse literary interests, and a passion for working with upper school students. For all positions, we look for candidates who enjoy working with colleagues in a collaborative environment, who are flexible and creative, who will fully engage in the life of the school, and who are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable community.
