Middle School (Upper Elementary) Lead Teacher: Multiple Subject
Location: Big Sky, Montana
Plan and implement a student-centered, project-based, and personalized morning work period targeting core subjects as well as an integrated thematic program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students. Other duties as assigned by Head of School, including field trip planning, outdoor excursions or expeditions, winter snow sports, and curriculum development.

Qualifications: We are seeking highly motivated and creative educators who have a background in project-based learning (PBL) or have PBL certification and are interested in developing and teaching integrated curriculum that ties theme concepts to the incredible outdoor environment of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem in and around Big Sky, as well as local and global issues. Strong interest in creating a classroom culture of academic excellence, student engagement, growth mindset, and a personalized, Mastery-based classroom and school community. Experience teaching in multi-age classroom settings, developing curriculum, utilizing multi-faceted resources and teaching materials, aligning to common core or state standards: experience as a lead teacher or program lead is essential.
A candidate must have a willingness to collaborate with colleagues and communicate effectively in writing, through newsletters, and in face-to-face with all members of the school community including families, students, and staff. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate a willing flexibility to adapt to new ideas and shared lesson planning. . Experience in Nordic or alpine skiing and/or outdoor, experiential education preferred.
Must have a valid Elementary (K-8) or Middle School (5-9) Certification,, as well as hold a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university OR have demonstrated experience in these age/grade levels. At least two years of prior middle school, multiple subject classroom teaching preferred with experiential/expeditionary education.

Target standards and rigor via lessons and assessment per grade level
Monitor student progress using fall, winter, and spring assessment tools and adjusting instruction accordingly for each student.
Effectively communicate with families in a pro-active and positive manner
