St. Catherine’s School seeks an Assistant Chaplain and Lower School Religion Teacher to serve as an integral part of the academic and spiritual leadership of the School. The primary purpose of this role is to enrich the spiritual life of the school through planning and leading school chapel services, teaching lower school religion classes, collaborating effectively with faculty and staff members, supporting the school’s mission and core values, and providing pastoral care to members of the school community.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Planning and conducting chapel services.
Teaching religious education classes to Kindergarten through 4th grade students.
Offering pastoral care for all students, families, faculty and staff.
Leading and assisting in large religious events (e.g. Eucharist services, Lessons and Carols, Lower School Gift Service, Ash Wednesday, Baccalaureate, etc.)
Identifying and promoting the School's service-learning efforts.
Participating in faculty committees and mentoring student activities as required.
Becoming involved in the education of girls as directed by the Head of School, including serving as a teacher, coach, or mentor.
St. Catherine’s School seeks candidates who have ordination or planned ordination in the Episcopal Church, be grounded in an ecumenical/interfaith approach, and hold a master's degree in Divinity. The candidate must possess a collaborative spirit and be able to work effectively with musicians, student leaders, and members of the religion department to plan chapel services. Ideal candidates will have experience in a school setting, including early childhood education.
