San Antonio Academy of Texas is seeking an innovative Middle School Science teacher for a full-time, permanent position starting August 2020. This dynamic teacher will facilitate the growth of boys in a student-centered, developmentally appropriate environment focusing on research-based, best practices for educating boys. The teacher will develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, faculty and administration.
Ability to use the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) as the guiding framework for instructional planning.
Plan engaging, hands-on science lessons that are developmentally appropriate yet challenging.
Incorporate STEM lessons throughout the curriculum/year.
Model life-long learning for the students.
Collaborate with colleagues and contribute constructively to the community.
Work directly with the Science Department to implement the day-to-day programs, build, refine, and align curriculum for students.
Have a bachelor’s degree or higher; preferred teacher certification.
Strong knowledge in Middle School Science and NGSS with particular emphasis on STEM disciplines and practices.
Highly competent in basic computer skills and comfortable with technology use and management (students have 1:1 Chromebook access).
