Reporting to the Principals, the MS/US Science Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing differentiated instruction for 8th grade integrated science, 9th and 10th grade Physics and IB Physics based on ongoing assessment; communicating clearly with parents and colleagues; and coordinating support with the best interests of each individual child in mind.
Duties and Responsibilities
Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
Demonstrates command of the science content.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides small group and individualized instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
Plans and implements developmentally appropriate interactive learning experiences that generate interest, enthusiasm and academic excellence in the classroom.
Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of class newsletters, notes, telephone calls, conferences, emails, websites, etc.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
Monitors students’ progress in learning through a variety of techniques.
Provides assessments that measure student achievement of objectives.
Utilizes technology effectively to plan, teach, and assess.
Evaluates, selects, and modifies resources and activities to match learners’ needs and meet the curriculum standards.
Prepares adequately for responsibilities to be assumed when absent.
Creates a classroom environment that promotes an exemplary learning community: enriched by differences, informed through inquiry, global in reach.
Commits to continuous improvement of your craft of teaching through professional development and other learning opportunities.
Serve as a student advisor to group of upper school students if needed, for an additional stipend.
Exhibits a willingness to contribute to the educational and communal aspects of the school.
Regular and punctual attendance of instructional periods, attend meetings and events during the school day and parent-teacher conferences.
The supervision and discipline of students and the willingness to make themselves available to students within contractual hours in addition to instructional time.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, from an accredited university or college and/or combination of experience and training in relevant subject. An advanced degree is preferred.
At least ten (3) years of relevant teaching experience. Experience working at in an IB school preferred.

Typically, one half to three-quarters of WIS graduates earn the Bilingual IB Diploma, demonstrating fluency in two languages.
