Newtown Friends School is seeking candidates for a full time Middle School mathematics teacher. Applicants must have a broad background in mathematics topics from pre-algebra to algebra 1 and algebra 2. Math teaching experience (grades 6 – 8) preferred. Experience working with cooperative and differentiated instruction is desired. Newtown Friends School has been approved for candidacy to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program, and the successful candidate will ideally have IB experience or a strong desire to learn the IB program.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in math or an education degree with a mathematics focus. An advanced degree is desired. The successful candidate will have excellent rapport with, and knowledge of, middle school students (ages 10 – 14) and enjoy working with them in a variety of school activities in addition to classroom teaching. We seek candidates with expertise in providing students active hands-on experiences while incorporating digital media technology. Candidates should have a desire to mentor and support students' development of the necessary academic, social, and attitudinal skills to achieve 21st-Century leadership. Familiarity with Quaker education is advantageous. The ability to coach is a plus.
