Maryvale Preparatory School, an independent Catholic girls school, located in Lutherville, MD, is seeking a dynamic, seasoned development professional to lead the advancement team into the school’s 75th Anniversary year and to the successful completion of a capital campaign. The successful candidate must be an innovative and energetic professional who is a strategic thinker and team player. She/he must demonstrate superb managerial skills, technical savvy, a contemporary approach to donor engagement, and experience in a variety of fund raising, communication, and/or volunteer and event management roles.

The successful candidate must possess:
A depth of experience with moves management, understanding the value of strategic donor screening, prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
High-level skills, emotional intelligence, and a sense of humor to lead a team of professionals and volunteers
Superb written, verbal, and electronic communication skills
Direct experience working with trustees, philanthropists, community leaders, and foundation decision-makers
A proven track record of securing and closing major gifts, including those in the seven-figure range
Familiarity with the complexities of gift planning, endowment oversight, financial reconciliation and accountability to donor intent
The energy and aptitude to thrive in a busy, deadline-driven advancement arena
A commitment to independent education for girls in a strong faith-based community
Solid technical skills, database management, and experience with Raisers Edge, a plus.
Bachelor’s Degree required; Masters preferred.
Essential Job Functions:
Oversees a 7-person Development Team.
Motivates and leads team to meet and/or exceed fundraising and related goals, while interacting with parents, alumnae, faculty and friends of the school.
Works collaboratively with school’s Admissions office, Director of Strategic Communications, Business Office, and school Leadership Team.
Develops and implements departmental strategic plans for development and campaign operations, while collaborating with the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications.
Develops budget for development department and annual revenue projections in concert with the Assistant Head of School for Business Operations/CFO.
Serves as a member of the school’s Leadership Team.
Serves as staff liaison to Board Campaign Leadership Committees, Development and Governance Committees.
Creates and implements a strategic fundraising and external relations initiative to bolster annual giving and constituent percentages, ensuring that campaign goals are reached.
Oversees a comprehensive capital campaign, still in the quiet phase, which is 60 percent to goal.
Broadens donor base through increased prospect research, engagement, and networking with individuals, corporations and foundations.
Manages foundation proposals in an effort to secure leadership and major gifts.
Responsible for identifying, cultivating and soliciting major donors to ensure campaign success, including managing a personal major gift portfolio of 50 to 75 donors and prospects.
Identifies areas of growth with a strong focus on parent and alumnae giving; develops and supports constituent and/or affinity engagement plans in an effort to increase overall giving.
Drafts and oversees stewardship and donor relation plans.
The successful candidate must be willing to travel, attend numerous night and weekend activities, and support the school’s leadership and governing body in all aspects. She/he must be energized by the transformational power of philanthropy and willing to undertake bold initiatives. A strong sense of humor is required
Final candidate(s) will be required to complete a criminal background check and a Child Protective Services screening prior to employment, as well as an MSDE Employment History Review screening for Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct.
