Milton Academy seeks a qualified instructor to teach elementary students (K-5) Spanish language and culture in our Lower School. We are looking for a teacher who is deeply committed to teaching and working with kindergarten through grade 5 students and has a passion for Spanish language. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish is required as is at least two years of experience teaching Spanish language at the elementary level. Knowledge of the various Spanish-speaking cultures and nations of the world is also required. The teacher will also participate in the life of the school outside the classroom, faculty meetings, lunch and recess duties, and advising student activities.
We seek teachers who believe in progressive, differentiated, and developmentally-aligned models of teaching and learning; understand the importance of cultural competency and instructional technology; bring a close integration of the arts and experiential education into classroom curricula; and are attuned to the social and emotional growth of students.
A demonstrated ability working in a diverse and inclusive community is essential. Warmth, compassion, cultural competence, flexibility, humor, pragmatism, and accessibility with students, faculty, families, and administrators are essential qualities for this position. Teacher certification is not required.
