The Pre-Kindergarten Head Teacher is responsible for the homeroom life of approximately 15 students. They are also responsible for planning, implementing, and reviewing the Pre-K curriculum, in partnership with the existing Pre-K team and the Administration.
The successful candidate should be dynamic, energetic and creative. This individual will join a team of committed and collaborative colleagues, working in close collaboration with the entire Lower School (Nursery–Grade 5) division.
Planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children aged 4–5 years old, built on social, emotional, and academic goals
Planning lessons and tailoring instruction to meet students’ individual needs, based on classroom scope and sequence
Mentoring an Associate Teacher through weekly feedback meetings and collaborative curriculum planning and delivery
Collaborating closely with teachers and specialists regarding curriculum and student progress
Coordinating with the school faculty, families, and outside support specialists to best support student growth
Communicating student progress and goals through family conferences, home reports, and parent meetings and emails
A Master’s degree and a minimum of three years’ experience as a Head or Associate Teacher
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate curriculum for the Pre-K year
Ability to teach to a range of learning styles, comfort with differentiated instruction
Experience in inquiry-based learning and teaching methodologies
Excellent written and verbal skills
Passion for the subject matter and for the craft of teaching
Curiosity, collaboration skills, flexibility, and a sense of humor
Interest in diversity, inclusivity, and social justice
Interest in professional growth and school-wide initiatives
