Kent Place School is seeking a forward-thinking educator to join the Computer Science and Engineering Department to develop, teach, facilitate, and support innovative courses, co-curricular activities, independent student projects and research that enhance CSE content knowledge and explore the intersections of CSE with the humanities, the arts, and health & wellness. This position will work within the Middle School and Upper School divisions. Students in these divisions learn to code in Scratch, Python, HTML, Java, and other processing languages; to build and program robots; to design and program soft and hard circuits; and to fully execute engineering and human-centered design processes. A desirable candidate will not only have strong CSE pedagogical content knowledge, but also evidenced ability to cultivate an inclusive learning environment that is accessible to all students and advances equity in STEM.
In addition to teaching a full course load, the CSE faculty member will advance school-wide STEM initiatives by facilitating an after-school STEM program, developing and implementing relevant programming that builds capacity of use of the Innovation Lab, Fabrication Lab, Wonder Lab, Media Center, and CSE Hubs. Furthermore, the CSE faculty member will cultivate and maintain relationships with faculty across academic departments and the MS and US divisions to provide STEM-literacy Professional Development for faculty and cross-disciplinary learning opportunities for students. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math, engineering, physical science or related field required; Master’s degree in computer science, related field or education preferred. Minimum 3 years of prior teaching experience preferred.
