The Madeira School is one of the country's premier boarding/day schools for girls with a century of serving the needs of a wide variety of young women from around the country and the world. Located just outside of Washington, DC, on the banks of the Potomac River, in McLean, VA, Madeira enrolls 320 students in grades 9-12.
The Madeira School is seeking a Director of Admissions for its Admission Office, which recruits, selects, and enrolls mission and program appropriate students for The Madeira School. The Director of Admissions is responsible for overseeing the admissions process, and will work in conjunction with the Director of Enrollment Management to develop and implement strategy.
Participate in area recruiting events, participate in campus wide recruitment programs, and coordinate all admission recruiting activities; represent the Madeira School at recruitment fairs and events in key markets, both domestically and internationally.
Interview prospective families and girls and prepare thoughtful and thorough interview evaluation; provide on-going consultation to prospective girls, applicants and their families.
Communicate respectfully with a diverse population of current and prospective students and families.
Review and read applications; interview prospective students; respond to applicant inquiries; and counsel prospective girls and their families regarding the admissions process, test taking strategies, curriculum, etc.
Assist the Director of Enrollment management in the development of the overall departmental strategy; participate in strategic planning to identify ways to increase conversion and yield rates of applicants.
Represent the school before alumni and other groups
Coordinate admission events, in consultation with other members of the admission staff.
Research and identify prospective student interests, evaluates media and market trends
Develop and lead the implementation of the admission-marketing plan.
Manage analytics and data to ensure current impact on marketing decisions and inform school leadership in order to make timely decisions on market placements, trends and programs
Assist with website maintenance, and all electronic and print communication.
Assist the Director of Enrollment Management in the management of the office, including staff supervision, training, procedures, interview scheduling and major mailings.
Serve as an advisor
3-5 years of experience in admissions & marketing required; 3-5 years of management experience required
Superior interpersonal, communication, writing and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team with exceptional initiative and judgment
Strong customer-service orientation
Ability to develop credibility with prospective families
Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally
Proficiency in basic data management systems and basic computer applications; willingness and ability to learn additional applications as needed; some experience in systems work
Appreciation of and commitment to boarding and/or single sex education, diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population
Independent school experience preferred, preferably in boarding and/or single sex education; or relevant corporate experience
