Rockwern Academy in Cincinnati, Ohio is a pluralistic Jewish independent school that serves toddlers through eighth graders. We are committed to providing strong academics, a nurturing community, and a solid sense of Jewish identity for our students.
The Principal oversees the academic program in kindergarten through eighth grade. The Principal reports to the Head of School and works closely with other members of the Leadership Team. The Principal supervises the teaching staff and the student support staff. The position works on a 12-month schedule. Areas of responsibility include:
Serve as the instructional leader of the school, ensuring that our academic program is effective, innovative, and meeting the needs of and challenging our students
Stay abreast of current research related to curriculum and instruction
Oversee standardized testing, including data analysis and relevant communication
Play a key role in handling our ISACS accreditation process
Communicate about our academic program for school newsletters, school website, grant reports, and other areas
Create and nurture a culture of support, respect, and collaboration among administration, faculty, students, and parents
Oversee a strong field trip program that complements classroom learning
Handle student discipline issues
Participate meaningfully in the school community, e.g. attend sports games, student performances, and other school and community events
Collaborate with others to plan school events like open houses, parent-teacher conferences, STEAM night
Engage parents proactively and serve as a resource for individual parents and teachers regarding individual students and classroom needs
Supervise and evaluate teachers through ongoing classroom observations, regular
meetings with teachers, and thorough and growthful evaluations
Supervise and evaluate the student support team
Identify and implement appropriate professional development opportunities
Partner with the Head of School on hiring, retaining, and assigning faculty
Other duties, as assigned

You have strong opinions about how subject areas should be taught, and you have experience guiding teachers in providing differentiated instruction. You can think big and help create transformational change, while also handling the small details.
Qualified applicants will have successful teaching experience, administrative experience, an advanced degree in administration, and ideally a principal’s license.
