The Village School of Naples continues to grow and is now accepting resumes for a Head of Upper School for the 2020-2021 school year. The Village School values inquiry-based, student-centered learning aimed to empower and inspire students to create solutions to challenges faced in an ever-changing world.
The Head for Upper School is a twelve-month position reporting to the Head of School. This person is a member of the senior administrative team with the principal responsibility of leading the upper school program.
The Head of Upper School should have an energetic and hands-on approach to education. Collaboration, flexibility, and a passion for educating the whole student are key components of a successful teacher at The Village School. This position will contribute to the department’s ongoing discussions about interdisciplinary S.T.E.A.M. and project-based learning, creating opportunities for student research and experiential learning.
He or she will be encouraged to exercise creative and visionary leadership, designing a world-class Upper School program. Among the highest priorities will be leading a progressive educational program by further developing the curriculum, schedule and the retaining and recruitment of excellent faculty. The school is seeking a confident self-starter who is energized by the vision of creating an innovative educational Upper School program in Southwest Florida.
The Head of Upper School will possess the following attributes:
Excellent academic credentials, including an advanced degree
Upper School leadership experience is required
A demonstrated record of success as a secondary school teacher and administrator, ideally in an independent school of high quality
An open-minded academician with the knowledge and experience necessary to pioneer the process of designing and developing curriculum
A forward-thinking educator who will promote thoughtful curricular innovation
A proven administrator with the ability to lead, manage people and move multiple projects forward
The willingness and ability to be visible, persuasive advocate for the Upper School with internal and external audiences
Substantial experience in hiring and building effective teams
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
An unwavering commitment to excellence
A confident, proactive and creative leader
Must be able to articulate their faith and support the school’s Christian environment
