Berkshire Country Day School (BCD), a 2-yrs - 8th grade independent school in Stockbridge, MA seeks an experienced educator to teach a multi-grade (2 grades in one) class of 10-16 students to begin in 2020-21 school year.
BCD balances traditional academics with a warm and nurturing environment where every child can succeed. Our approach to literacy is multi-dimensional and individualized to the learner, so the educator must understand both phonics and whole language approaches to literacy. We begin teaching the writing process from an early age. Our approach to math is hands-on with frequent use of manipulatives. We teach science using the method of scientific inquiry.
Our responsive classrooms are child-centered with an emphasis on experiential and project-based learning. We occupy a 24-acre campus that has wooded trails, a swimming pond and several mountain streams running through it. Our faculty is collaborative and our families are kind and supportive of our approaches to education.
