YSC Academy is a non-profit private independent school built with the student-athlete in mind; it is designed to integrate youth soccer development with a college-preparatory education. YSC Academy is seeking a Business Manager who is a dynamic and experienced financial executive with superb strategic and operating skills to fill the key position of Business Manager. The Business Manager is an integral part of the senior leadership team and is responsible for managing the financial and physical resources of the school. S/he reports directly to the Head of School and coordinates directly with the Chief Financial Officer.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic, detail-oriented, technologically savvy individual with excellent communication skills, a collaborative work style, and able to work in a fast pace environment and have a commitment to education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Business Manager will:
Develop and oversee financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets, protect confidential information, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Oversee school business functions, including tuition billing and collection, accounts payable, contracting, payroll, human resources, accounting and reporting, regulatory reporting and compliance, and other business administration activities.
Oversee the maintenance of the buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Administer the annual budget and multi-year forecasting process to align with the school's goals and mission and maintain account records related to the school’s budget.
Provide financial reports to school leadership.
Participate in the development of school strategy, providing recommendations, financial analysis, projections, and other data to inform the process.
Collaborate with and assist the Head of School, Chief Financial Officer, and the board of trustees in meeting fiduciary responsibilities.
Understand the culture and climate of the school.
Manage, mentor, and develop direct reports, providing constructive and timely feedback. Model and foster high ethical standards, integrity, and respect for colleagues, alumni/ae, parents, and students in the conduct of the school’s business.
Ensure that human resources policies and practices are articulated, consistently applied, and conform to legal requirements.
Remain current with business management trends and cultivate professional standards and development by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in local, regional, and national professional organizations.
Manage the external audit and tax function.
Manage enrollment and financial aid process.
Manage the Pennsylvania EITC/OSTC program and financial aid process.
Prepare the annual tax filing with Pennsylvania EITC/OSTC program
Assist the Head of School with all decisions related to financial sustainability of the school.
Assist the Head of School in building out new revenue streams.
Perform other administrative tasks, including writing development acknowledgement letters, ordering office supplies, reconciling expense reports, coordinating repairs to office equipment/furniture repairs, etc. .
A bachelor’s degree, accounting or finance
8+/- years experience in accounting, finance or CPA position
Demonstrated leadership qualities

Keen analytical skills and a detail-oriented work style
Experience in an independent secondary school, college or university setting preferred, though individuals with strong financial and leadership experience are encouraged to apply.
