Porter-Gaud School is an independent, co-educational day school of 1,000 students in grades 1 – 12 across three divisions. The School has an opening for a full-time Mandarin Language Teacher; division placement will depend upon chosen candidate. Lower School division is grade 1 - 4; Middle School division is grade 5 - 8; Upper School division is grade 9 - 12.
Create a learning environment that encourages a love of learning and respect for others.
Introduce the Mandarin language to students using established curriculum guidelines.
Develop curriculum to enhance appreciation of Chinese culture and language.
Inspire curiosity about and appreciation for Chinese culture through age appropriate activities.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and assessments which address multiple learning styles.
Participate as an active, collaborative member of the School faculty as well as the School community as a whole.
Work ably with World Language faculty in grades 1-12 in building programming across divisions.
Communicate effectively with all constituents within the school community.
Appreciate and enjoy interacting with students and partnering with their teachers and families in their student’s overall development.
Show evidence of organization, punctuality, and self-motivation.
Exhibit an ability to work effectively with the grade level teams and with other Chinese teachers across divisions.
Show evidence of effective communication and interaction with all constituencies within the School.
Reporting: The Mandarin Teacher reports directly to the Head of Division.

The successful candidate will have:
A Bachelor's or advanced degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a degree or certification in field.
High proficiency in the Mandarin language and fluency in English.
Related teaching experience, preferably in independent schools.
