The ESL teacher will support students, classroom teachers, parents and administration in developing and implementing a continuum of services to meet the English language learning needs of students. Additionally the ESL teacher will meet local, state and federal goals regarding identified students at Niner University Elementary in Charlotte, North Carolina. - Demonstrate knowledge of local, state and federal regulations and laws pertaining to English Learners (ELs). - Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, policy, school procedures, and administrative regulation. - Develop and implement an instructional plan which is aligned to demonstrated strengths and weaknesses of the student based upon assessment data. - Employ a variety of teaching methods to meet student needs. Implementation of these methods may require the adaptation or development of materials. - Design and deliver instruction that demonstrates a clear alignment with Second Language Acquisition principles as well as sociocultural aspects of EL learning. - Recommend rigorous and culturally relevant instructional strategies and accommodations for students and classroom teachers. - Help staff members understand and implement EL policy and procedures through formal and/or informal training. - Demonstrate a broad knowledge regarding curriculum content and EL teaching strategies with specific content knowledge at multiple levels of instruction. - Implement and interpret language proficiency assessments to develop Language Instruction Education Plans for identified students. - Collaborate with teachers to implement teaching strategies that promote student mastery of individual language goals. - Instruct students individually and in groups during the instructional time, using various collaborative teaching methods. - Communicate with parents regarding their children's educational progress via periodic written progress reports - Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences and teacher training workshops as required by the position. - Follow a plan for professional development and demonstrates evidence of growth. - Perform any other duties as assigned by Administration
Minimum Experience / Education:
Preferred Education Skills and Experience:
Evidence of skill working with at risk student populations; Specialization in ESL at Master's level; 3 years of experience in an elementary setting; Demonstrate a strong understanding of the WIDA and NC Essential Standards, including WIDA Assessments and data interpretation.
