Abington Friends Upper School is seeking an Upper School Science teacher to teach an algebra-based Physics course in a Physics First program. The ability to teach math and an additional science subject is desired. Upper School teachers are expected to serve as student advisors; opportunities to coach or supervise other student activities are available.
Qualifications for the position include:
A bachelor’s degree in science, masters preferred
Content knowledge in physics and high school level mathematics
Understanding of laboratory safety in the context of a high school science classroom.
Aptitude for, and comfort with, teaching students of a diverse range of backgrounds and ability levels.
Willingness to collaborate with other teachers in Upper School and across divisions around curriculum and pedagogy
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
