Serving approximately 155 students in pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade, Dutchess Day School is seeking an experienced, full-time Pre-kindergarten Head Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. This position is a maternity leave replacement, from September through January. The ideal candidate will lead all aspects of homeroom for approximately fifteen students, ages three and four. Working with talented Lower School team and co-teacher, the Pre-kindergarten Head Teacher will create an engaging environment for our youngest students, in which enthusiasm, warmth, empathy, and play-based learning abound. Candidates should have 3-5 years of teaching experience and a deep understanding of the social, emotional, intellectual, and physical development of three and four-year-olds. A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field is required and Master’s degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a motivation to work collaboratively as a team to build a sense of community in and outside the classroom.
