This individual will grow their practice through partnership with mentor teachers and administration. This candidate is qualified or earning qualifications in teaching. The primary role is to support students in providing personalized, inquiry-based learning opportunities. This person needs to be passionate about growing their professional teaching practice. Working as part of a team is crucial to each students’ social, emotional, and academic success. The ideal candidate will continually evolve the designing, organizing, and implementing of relevant curriculum in interdisciplinary ways.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND TASKS:
Display a genuine disposition for engaging students and promoting deep understanding through meaningful learning.
Be an integral part of the learning community and viewed as an ongoing learner who is fully engaged in professional growth.
Demonstrate a desire for feedback and a dedication to excellence.
Collaborate with lead teachers to plan and teach units that encompass hands-on exploration and inquiry process skills using the Understanding by Design Model of instruction.
Deliver curriculum developed by the Department Chair and co-teach a class.
Maintain an optimal disposition that embodies practice of inherent pedagogies in teaching students.
Demonstrate growing expertise in a variety of presentation modes that accommodate different learning styles and purposefully generate opportunities for students to interact and share ideas with their peers.
Help set up and clean up science labs.
Substitute for classes periodically.
Work with Administration to build expertise.
Consistently demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, including accountable conversations that promotes the school’s core values.
Perform supervisory duties as assigned.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Implement relevant technology.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
BA or BS in Secondary Math Education or Math, and/or a science degree.
A lifelong learner willing to balance past experience with the demands of a new environment.
Ability to work on multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery, accuracy and end-user satisfaction is expected.
A willingness to understand and support the school’s mission and vision, as well as recognize impact the climate and culture of the school have on the work of the School.
Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of various constituencies within the school community and the skills and attitude to deliver an exemplary experience to all stakeholders.
Work in a fast-paced, stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Lift 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Work in varied and extreme weather conditions, including extreme heat.
Demonstrated interest in working with children valuing diversity and the accomplishments of different learners and the whole child.
