Greens Farms Academy is seeking Lower School Associate Teachers for the 2019-20 school year. While the typical start date is late August 2020, there may be an opportunity for an Associate Teacher to begin in March or April 2020. Applicants with the flexibility to begin this spring are encouraged to indicate that in their materials.
The Associate Teacher program provides aspiring teachers with training and experience in pre-kindergarten through fourth-grade classrooms under the guidance of a lead teacher. Associate Teachers are immersed in the daily life of the classroom through observation, supervised teaching, and small group work. There are also opportunities to lead after-school clubs in the Lower School and coach athletic teams in the Middle and Upper Schools. Typically, Associate Teachers spend two years gaining the experience necessary to move on to their own classrooms, and many pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from a nearby college or university while at Greens Farms. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, some experience in and a passion for working with young children, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive community.
Associate Teachers receive a competitive stipend as well as additional funding for coursework. There are also opportunities to supplement income through coaching and extracurricular activities.
