Island School (ischool.org) seeks a Middle/High School English teacher beginning in the 2020-21 academic year with a commitment to private education in a college preparatory environment. The full-time position includes teaching five 8th- and 10th-grade English classes.
Island School is an Independent college preparatory day school for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. It is located on the island of Kaua'i, the northernmost inhabited island of the Hawaiian Island chain, which, due to its stunning natural beauty, is known as the "Garden Island."

Island School is a WASC/HAIS accredited PK-12 independent school with a total enrollment of 425 students, with 240 students enrolled in the high and middle school. The successful candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, and a desire to be part of an independent school community. Candidates should have experience differentiating instruction to work effectively with a range of learners and demonstrate a passion for teaching English: reading, writing, and grammar. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in teaching English at the middle and high school level, hold an B.A. in literature or secondary English education (MAT), and hold a secondary teaching certification. Additional responsibilities include serving as an advisor, full participation in the life of the school, leading a club or other initiative, and/or coaching.
Minimum Qualifications include:
1 + years of relevant teaching experience in a non-profit independent school preferred.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with parents, students, faculty, and staff.
Ability to motivate and manage students.
Strong work ethic, adaptability, generous spirit, and confidence when working with students.
