Indian Creek School enrolls approximately 535 students in grades Pre-K through twelve from diverse ethnic, racial, religious, and economic backgrounds. This position is a full-time, 10-month, faculty position, reporting to the Head of the Upper School.
Teach seventh grade life science and eighth grade physical science
Plan and implement effective standards-based lessons, labs, and units
Use a variety of assessments to measure student learning and drive instruction
Create a positive and safe classroom culture and community utilizing best practices in social emotional learning and culturally responsive teaching.
Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and staff members
Coaching and/or Outdoor Education experience preferred, but not required
Skills and Dispositions:
Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in science education including inquiry-based learning, technology integration, equitable grading practices, and culturally responsive teaching
Demonstrated knowledge of the Next Generation Science Standards.
Demonstrated ability to be resilient, mission-driven, and proactive in creating and implementing an innovative and research-based science curriculum
Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with important stakeholders including teachers, administrators, and families
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (Master’s preferred)
Demonstrated experience/expertise in Secondary Education
Educational philosophy aligns with the mission and vision of Indian Creek School
Proficiency in technology and with Microsoft products
Federal and State Background Check clearance
Classroom environment with no secretarial/administrative support
School environment including indoor and outdoor activities
Handle, carry and manipulate classroom materials
Read handwritten documents and other records or reports
