Holy Innocents' Episcopal School is seeking a Lower School Spanish Teacher. This is a full-time, academic year (10 month) position. HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish day school in the country, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. HIES is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.
To plan, organize and implement an appropriate Spanish Language instructional program in the Lower School learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the supervision of the Lower School Principal.
Demonstrate a proactive and dynamic teaching style.
Use differentiated instruction to reach all level of Spanish learners.
Deliver lessons that are interactive, engaging, and experiential.
Deliver student-centered teaching and classroom management practices based on Responsive Classroom.
Expose students to music, art, and historical figures that are relevant to the Latino community in the US and also in South & Central America and the Caribbean.
Observe other language-based classes or programs.
Attend professional development pertinent to teaching Spanish.
Work collaboratively on improving the Lower School Spanish Department.
Develop partnerships with stores, markets, museums, or organizations with the purpose of enhancing the process of learning and practicing Spanish.
Communicate regularly with the lead teachers regarding student progress.
Update and maintain student academic records and performance metrics.
Educational and Other Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree required. A Master’s degree in education or Spanish is preferred.
Prior experience teaching Spanish in grades 1-5 strongly preferred.
Successful completion of pre-employment background screening, drug testing and safety training required.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach, kneel, bend at the waist, use hands from wrist to finger, and talk or hear for prolonged periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
