St. Mary’s Ryken is a Catholic, coeducational, college preparatory school community operated under the Xaverian Brothers’ sponsorship. St. Mary’s Ryken seeks a theology teacher. The preferred candidate is a person of faith who is able to teach all levels of high school theology and has a great love for guiding young people to a deeper understanding of Catholic teaching.

Outside of the Classroom
The teacher will join a vibrant, experienced faculty. The teacher will be expected to be actively involved in the school’s full program which involves advising, sponsoring clubs, chaperoning field trips, being on faculty committees and attending school events.

Bachelor’s degree with substantial experience in Catholic theology or philosophy
B.A. or M.A. in theology from a Catholic college or university preferred
Minimum three years high school teaching experience in theology preferred, but not required
A practicing Catholic in good standing
Willingness to understand and commit to the mission of St. Mary’s Ryken and the Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools
Ability to present material in a variety of formats to meet the needs of diverse learners
Provides an authentic encounter with Jesus Christ through the academic study of theology
Ability to integrate technology in the classroom
Assumes responsibility for the leadership and management of the grades or classes assigned
Develops and implements an instructional program according to the needs of the students and the established SMR curriculum
Maintains detailed and accurate records as required by the school
Continues professional development to remain current with religious and academic certifications
Must meet Ministry Formation Certification and/or work towards certification or recertification as required by diocesan policy
