Provides leadership to the school personnel in interpreting District policies, defining and clarifying education objectives, and stimulating high levels of job performance.
Plans, directs, and evaluates the instructional program in order to promote high student academic achievement; Responsible for assisting with the implementation of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) and School-wide Plan
Prepares or supervises the preparation of master schedules and student evaluation/grading.
Assigns, trains, supervises and evaluates personnel.
Studies and initiates the use of new teaching methods and directs evidence-based and pilot instructional programs.
Develops and implements policies and procedures for student conduct and discipline.
Coordinates and provides professional learning opportunities for certificated and classified personnel within the school.
Confers and counsels with students, personnel, and parents.
Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly learning environment for all students and personnel.
Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with parents and community groups; Collaborates with cluster principals in order to maintain curriculum focus and attainment of district’s annual measurable outcomes.
Prepares annual budgets and oversees expenditures.
Prepares reports and correspondence, maintains records, visits classes, attends meetings, and performs other duties as needed to maintain the overall operation of the school.
Provides information to district office personnel regarding concerns and needs of the school.
Demonstrates implementation of the California Professional Standards for Education Leaders (CPSEL).
Monitors and directs the daily attendance of students.
Supervises the implementation of the state and local assessments.
Other duties as assigned.
The organization, laws, and policies governing the operation of an intermediate school.
Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards, Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium, and Technology.
Ability to work effectively with personnel.
Successfully lead the school community.
Work effectively in a diverse ethnic learning community.
Possession of a valid California Administrative Services Credential
Five years of certificated experience, including at least two years of which should be in an administrative capacity.
Successful teaching experience; Valid California teaching credential
Experience in a diverse ethnic learning community
Possession of a doctorate degree or coursework leading to a doctorate degree in education or related field of study.
English Learners (EL) authorization.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mobility: Must possess mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects such as would be needed to use a pen or a keyboard. Must possess sufficient mobility to operate a vehicle, to travel to school and community sites, and other meetings at a wide variety of locations. There is a frequent requirement to attend meetings and make presentations which may involve prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
Vision: Must possess vision (which may be corrected) to read small print and computer screens.
Speech/Hearing: Must possess hearing (which may be corrected) to use a telephone and to hear discussions and questions during public and school meetings. The individual is required to speak clearly and distinctly, to make lengthy oral presentations and to converse by telephone.
Mental/Emotional: The individual is required to establish effective relationships with a wide range of people, to give direction and to exercise tact, diplomacy, empathy, and firmness in sometimes highly emotional situations.
Other Conditions: The individual is required to use a personal vehicle to visit district and community sites, to attend periodic evening meetings and/or travel within and out of the county boundaries to attend meetings. The individual may be required to work for extended hours beyond a normal work day. This position is exempt from overtime compensation.
