Columbia Grammar and Prep School seeks a full-time English teacher to teach 8-10th grade initially, and eventually to design courses for 11th and 12th graders.
Teach students to read perceptively and thoughtfully, to appreciate literature from different eras and styles and in different voices, and to write with clarity and power.
Run well-managed, meaningful, and engaging classes.
Collaborate with colleagues in designing curriculum.
Meet individually with students for additional support.
Be a positive role model as a reader, thinker, and intellectual.
7:30am-3:30pm Monday through Friday
Weekly faculty and department meetings until 4:30pm
Start date : September 1st, 2020

A Bachelor’s degree in English, Composition, or a related field, and experience teaching literature and writing. A Master’s degree is preferred.
A love of literature and the written word.
Experience with canonical and contemporary literature.
Experience teaching high school English is preferred.
