Browne Academy anticipates a lower school teacher opening for the 2020-2021 school year. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative lower school teacher for grades preschool through 4th grade. The position requires a compassionate, flexible, and creative individual with at least five years of classroom experience. This person will need to work closely with students, teachers, and administrators to support the mission of the school by promoting the core values in the educational and personal experience of each child. The lower school teacher should possess a holistic view of children and understand the developmental issues of elementary age students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for integrated learning and possess strong communication skills. The candidate will also demonstrate an understanding of how differentiated assessment informs instruction and will be familiar with current research into neuroscience and its implications for effective instruction. Prepare and execute thoughtful units of study designed to reach the different learning styles of the students in the classroom.
Regularly assess student learning using a variety of tools and means throughout each trimester and maintain regular communication with parents and administrators about student progress.
Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment.
Consistently and clearly communicate with colleagues, administrators, and parents regarding student work and classroom projects or issues.
Adhere to the school’s curriculum in the classroom.
Attend regular weekly faculty meetings.
Collaborate with teachers to ensure integration with other subjects.
Plan, organize, and conduct field trips.
Attend and assist with assemblies and special events, some of which occur outside of normal school hours.
Actively participate in all in-service and orientation days.
Bachelor’s degree in education
At least five years experience (preferably in an independent school setting)
