Position Summary: Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Senior Director will coordinate student counseling and outreach functions within the Office of Career Services (OCS). Additionally, s/he will engage in extensive one-on-one career counseling for JD and LLM students and alumni and work with the staff to plan and execute programming to enhance career building skills.
Working with the Associate Dean to develop and implement OCS policies, and procedures, and best practices
Counseling JD & LLM students and alumni on job search strategies and career development
Collaborating with faculty, administration and alumni on employment initiatives
Collaborating with employer relations team to market students, both individually and collectively, to employers
Designing, executing, and presenting workshops, panel discussions, and other events
Developing career-related resources for students and alumni
Spearheading student engagement initiatives, utilizing social and traditional media as well as partnerships with student organizations
Handling other duties and responsibilities as needed
Experience & Educational Background:
5+ years prior related experience
J.D. required; some legal practice strongly preferred
Must have counseling or recruitment related experience and a strong understanding of the legal market
Leadership experience strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies:
Must possess strong leadership skills and be able to navigate multiple viewpoints and constituencies
Must be able to provide advice and counsel to students as well as the law school leadership team.
Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required
Must be able to work effectively as part of a team
Must be comfortable utilizing new technology, including database software and social media platforms.
