About The Logan School: The Logan School for Creative Learning was founded in 1989 with the mission of providing an experience-based educational opportunity for gifted children of all backgrounds that allows each child to develop individually to her/his full potential. The school enrolls approximately 245 students from four through fourteen years of age. The core of our program features individual student units. Unit topics are chosen by each student and the teacher then helps design an individual unit of study.

About the Position: TheEE teacher is responsible for planning and executing extended overnight trips and day trips for whole classroms that are releveant to the classrooms unit.
Status: Environmental Education Teacher is a 1.0 FTE salaried, exempt position.
Supervision: The Dean is the direct supervisor for Environmental Education Teachers.
The Logan School work day is 8:00-4:00, though EE teacher hours vary as required by job responsibilities.
At least once per week until 5:00pm for All-Staff Meetings
Occasional evening/weekend hours for school-wide events.
Overnight and weekend work is required for the extended trips.
Overall responsibilities for EE Teachers may include but are not limited to:
Develop curricula and deliver instruction consistent with the school's mission and core values, standards of teaching excellence and the aspirations of skillfulness detailed in the diversity & inclusion rubric.
Work collaboratively with Core teachers in support of the Class Unit.
Teach classroom lessons in support of the Class Unit.
Organize and lead or co-lead day and extended field trips.
Manage the budget for each trip.
Manage student medications on extended trips, with advance parent communication as needed.
Recruit and train/supervise chaperones as needed for extended trips.
Drive a bus for field trip transportation.
Participate in meetings as requested.
Maintain positive and professional relationship with families.
Establish a website login and become familiar with the documents in the staff resources section of the Logan website, particularly the calendar function and the personnel policies as these apply to all Logan staff.
Attend mandatory trainings, such as those for child safety, universal precautions, medication delegation, etc.
Communicate with core teachers regarding any concerns about a student, any schedule changes, and any other issues in which information will allow each teacher to better meet the needs of the child.
Manage the EE lab with other EE teachers
Perform miscellaneous other duties, as assigned by the Head of School
Attend monthly all-staff meetings.
Attend staff retreat.
Attend pre-service and other professional days.
Bachelor’s degreee or higher • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail • Experience in teaching, specifically in an outdoor education setting • Computer literate • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening • Valid driver’s license
Compensation: Salary starts at $45,000 and is dependent on experience. Salaries are paid monthly over a full year (August-July).
