Middle School Teacher Job Summary
The Healdsburg School seeks a skilled educator who embraces the mercurial nature of middle school students. The successful candidate will demonstrate acumen in preparing unit plans that challenge students to think deeply and engage in relevant inquiry to develop understanding. The candidate will aspire to be an integral member of a dynamic team of teachers who believe in the power of purpose-driven learning. This is a full-time position beginning in August 2020.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach Sixth Grade Language Arts and Social Studies. Teach an additional class to be determined.
Serve as advisor to 12 Sixth Grade Students
Participate in fall Outdoor Education trip to Yosemite
Collaborate with colleagues to create interdisciplinary units of study
Fulfill additional assigned duties with enthusiasm
Lead parent conferences two times per year; prepare written comments two times per year
Participate in additional school events (Back to School picnic, parent nights, etc)
A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in relevant field
Middle School teaching experience
Ability to establish and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with others.
Understanding of child development and the role of Social/Emotional learning in building positive, educational environments.
