FlexSchool is hiring in all academic areas. If you have a heart for teaching gifted and twice-exceptional students, we are offering an exciting opportunity to be part of our unique approach to delivering quality education.
FlexSchool is a fun and challenging learning community for the neuro-diverse. From our founder to our youngest student, we learn from each other and the world every day. Our students are gifted and/or twice-exceptional, meaning they process information differently. The standard school model often doesn’t work well for them. FlexSchool removes the roadblocks to learning and offers individualized support so our students can succeed.
We love teachers who live outside the box and think that quirky is beautiful. Much like our students find their tribe when attending FlexSchool, our employees often feel the same. Our staff are open, collaborative, bright, funny, and warm. A common statement made by our teachers is, ”I was this kid when I was in school and I wish FlexSchool had existed then!” FlexSchool teachers:
Consistently promote the mission and vision of FlexSchool.
Implement the school’s philosophy of progressive and personalized education for gifted and twice-exceptional children.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Collaborate with other FlexSchool campuses to plan, integrate, and facilitate cross-curricular, inquiry-based projects across all subject areas.

FlexSchool teachers are creative, enthusiastic, and curious. They enjoy the rewards and challenges of working with gifted young people and with those who may also struggle with some learning differences. Flexibility and innovation are essential in a FlexSchool classroom. Instruction includes small seminars for personalized learning and acceleration when necessary.
FlexSchool is a highly collaborative environment as teachers work with each other, the Head of School, learning specialists, and other FlexSchool campuses to create lessons and plans that allow each student to academically soar. Professional development is an ongoing learning process from a trained staff of professionals.
We are looking for subject experts (especially math, sciences, English/language arts, and social studies) with some teaching background, though it need not have been in a school setting. While a subject expert will often have a masters or Ph.D., we are willing to speak to subject experts without an advanced degree who have extensive experience in their field. A bachelor's degree is required.
Experience with students who are gifted or who have learning differences is a plus. We train and provide ongoing support for the teaching team using nationally-recognized gifted, 2e and LD experts.
FlexSchool is a unique learning network for gifted and twice exceptional (2e) middle and high school students. At this time two campuses serve the Tristate area, one in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey and another in Bronxville, New York.
FlexSchool embraces students for who and where they are, then supports them as they learn to thrive. Small, ability and discussion based classes taught by subject experts ensure meaningful conversations and the opportunity to ask high-level questions. The faculty, trained and supported by learning specialists and mental health professionals, focuses on critical thinking in all areas of learning. Students access their education by leveraging their strengths, and develop their unique talents with support from a caring and nurturing staff.
