Madison Country Day School, a PreK-12 International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, is seeking an experienced educator for the 2020-21 school year as a full-time high school Spanish teacher.
Applicants should possess not just a love of the Spanish language and Spanish speaking cultures, but also a love of working with adolescents and the desire to advance both an evolving school and your own professional expertise. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic educator who inspires others through optimism, selflessness, flexibility, and teamwork. The candidate possesses a willingness to collaborate with dedicated educators within the MCDS faculty. Applicants must have near-native proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Spanish and English. Experience with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme and Diploma Programme, and/or teaching IB Spanish is encouraged, but not required.
The successful candidate will:
Work within a collaborative World Language department
Have the ability to teach language through communication, culture, connections, comparisons, and communities
Be comfortable teaching or learning to teach IB Spanish
Serve as a high school advisor
Be comfortable teaching skills including critical problem solving, writing, speaking, questioning, and researching
Be expected to contribute to the school’s extracurricular offerings
Have the ability to design and facilitate rigorous, empowering lesson plans that are student-centered and thought-provoking
Have intellectual curiosity and a desire to spark a love of learning in students
Have excellent communication skills, a genuine appreciation of adolescents, a sense of humor, and the ability to work well within a collaborative environment
Have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
