The Rashi School seeks a Middle School Math Teacher for the 2020-2021 school year. Our Middle School math program is leveled, and we seek candidates who can teach students at all levels. A passion for math and an outstanding ability to inspire and challenge students are essential.
Teach one section of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math, five days per week, including Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and Geometry
Lead a Middle School Advisory and participate in all areas of Middle School life.
Meet with supervisor weekly and Middle School Learning Specialist as needed.
Collaborate with the other middle school math teachers.
Provide parents with regular communication.
Write report cards twice annually.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences.
Attend relevant meetings during the school day and faculty meetings on Wednesdays after school.
Essential capacities for successful leadership of the math program include:
A passion for mathematics and math education.
Deep commitment to collaborative curricular development.
Strong grasp of student-centered, developmentally appropriate mathematical pedagogy.
Ability to inspire and challenge middle school students.
Undergraduate or advanced degree in mathematics.
5-7 years of experience teaching math at the middle or high school level.
Able to sit, stand, reach, and type.
Able to listen/hear and communicate orally.
Able to use telephone and computers.
