Norwood has an opening for an experienced and dynamic second grade homeroom teacher. Successful candidates will have experience developing the academic and social-emotional growth of students within the lower elementary age range.In this position, the teacher supports instruction in reading, language arts, math, and social studies, as well as in general, pro-social homeroom curriculum. Strong applicants will have a deep commitment to child-centered instruction and a demonstrated knowledge of Readers and Writers Workshop Units of Study. Prior experience with the Bridges in Mathematics curriculum is preferred. Strong candidates will have demonstrated experience in highlycollaborative instructional environments.
Applicants for the secondgrade homeroom teacher position must have at least three years of experience working with students in upper elementary grades. Strong applicants will have a demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse, inclusive school setting with a child-centered pedagogy. Additional qualifications include excellent communication skills, flexibility, sense of humor, and a love for working with children.
