WORKING HOURS: As required (normally 40 - 50 hours per week)
Under the superintendent's supervision, the assistant superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of the golf course; coordinates with the equipment manager; and does related work as required including chemical and fertilizer applications and irrigation repairs. The assistant superintendent may serve in the superintendent's capacity during his/her absence.
• Assists in planning and supervising the maintenance of golf course and grounds • Schedules assignments; and supervises the employees and their use of the equipment • Inspects the golf course daily following morning maintenance to ensure any problems or concerns are handled immediately • Instructs equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment • Supervises pesticide applications and/or operates and calibrates pesticide application equipment • Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps and the maintenance and repairs of irrigation and drainage systems. • Assists in personnel management and evaluation, employee safety and personnel discipline.

Ability to perform moderate physical work, may be required to lift 60 pounds occasionally, 40 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly
EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND WORK-RELATED EXPERIENCE
Minimum 2 years in Golf Course Management industry
Completion or current enrollment in an accredited university turf management program or related degree
State Pesticide License or the ability to obtain within 90 days
