Program Description

A Child’s Place School is a school for 3-7 year olds founded in 1974.  The school has a rich legacy and is well respected both locally and nationally for its approach in quality progressive learning. The program is innovative with strong teacher team effort using an integrated day and creative problem solving in its approach. Inspiration is drawn from both the progressive tradition and the schools of Reggio Emilia.

Description, Responsibilities and Duties

Current openings include lead and assistant teachers for PK-1st grade.  Work to plan and implement a daily program designed to facilitate learning and enhance the development of the individual child according to A Child’s Place policies and philosophy.  Other duties include record keeping and preparing individual student reports. Contribute to school-wide cooperative projects and traditions working alongside teachers from all classes.  

Scheduling

Regular school year full time schedule Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm (Tuesdays to 5pm for staff meetings).  Daily schedule includes planning time, weekly staff meetings and classroom preparation time.   Some evenings and occasional Saturday mornings required.

Salary/ Benefits

Starting salary dependent on academic training, quality of experience, knowledge of integrated learning in mixed-age settings, training and special talents.  Benefits include partial employer-paid medical and dental benefit program and paid sick days after 90 working days; staff development program including at least three paid professional days, training and stipends for personal use.  401k employee pension plan after one year of service with employer contribution.  Tuition reimbursement plan after two years of service.
