Staten Island Academy seeks applicants for the position of 3-D and general Art Teacher for the 2020 – 2021 academic year. A bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts is required and a master’s degree is strongly preferred. Candidates must be able to teach students at all school levels. The position includes foundations of Art classes up through an Advanced 3-D Studio class. Ideal candidates will have three to five years of school teaching experience, strong sculpture skills and a demonstrated passion for working with and teaching adolescents. The candidate will need to have the ability to manage all aspects of a visual arts classroom including maintaining art materials, budget, equipment and room space as well as various visual arts displays on campus. The position also includes assisting with scenic painting for the schools’ theater program. Academy teachers are expected to be engaged in the life of the school outside of the classroom, so an interest in working with students as an advisor, club moderator, or coach is preferred.
